Life Reflections
Peace came to Mother Ruth Taliaferro at 4:30 PM Monday, March 29, 2021 at Menorah Park in Beachwood, OH. She was born on September 23, 1932 in Forest City, AR to the late Alberta Crawford and Annie (Sisson) Crawford. Ruth was preceded in demise by all of her immediate family, parents Alberta Crawford and Annie Crawford, siblings Emmett, Georgetta, Henry, Estelle, Eza Charles (E.C.), Ceful (Hot), and her loving son Daniel Eric.
Ruth was always a very independent hard-working individual. As a child, her first job was to retrieve the eggs out of the chicken coop. Watching and helping her mother cook she began to develop her passion to do the same. When Ruth was 16 years old, she suffered the death of her mother. She then migrated with her brothers to Illinois. In 1951, she relocated to Cleveland, where she would remain the rest of her years.
Ruth worked at least 15 jobs throughout her life. She found love and solitude in cooking and baking for family and friends. She also received a certificate of cosmetology from Vogue Academy. Her most favorite was working at Shabazz/ Kabala Restaurant for many years. She had the best recipes, and EVERYONE had their favorite from her.
Ruth was a very complex woman of Allah/God and knew Jesus. Being an avid reader of both the Holy Bible and the Holy Quran, she lived the majority of her life as a Muslim in The Nation of Islam. While also loving most Gospel music she practiced focusing on loving the Most High.
As life would have it, her health issues started to get the best of her in the most recent years. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace and no longer suffering. Through all life lessons Ma has taught me :"What will be, will be", continue to pray and trust that the Most High has our steps ordered.
Left to cherish her memory: her daughters Patricia Bailey of Atlanta, Ga., and Sandra (Roi) Gibson of Holland, MI; 6 grandchildren: Kelvin Bailey of Atlanta, Ga., Mario (Paula) Hanson-Taliaferro, Ericka Cherry, Cassandra Taliaferro, all of Cleveland, OH., Quianna Gibson and Tiara (David) Johnson, both of Holland, MI; 9 great-grandchildren: Marionna, Mariyah, Davian, Ava, Savannah, Mavi, Dante, Eric, Kaylin and a host of numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
