It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Ora Artis. A few weeks after her 94 th birthday, she received her wings while she slept, during the early morning hours of February 3, 2023.

Ora was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend, and neighbor who dedicated her whole life to everyone else's. She was truly devoted to her husband, children, and family. She loved to care for us, her yard, and her home. If you ever got to sit in the "museum" then you know how much pride she took in her home.

Ora was born to the late Henry Clay II & Octavia Anderson in Suffolk, VA where she was number four of eight children. It was in Virginia where she met and married her soulmate Otho Artis. A few years later, Ora's late brother H.C., suggested she and her family move to Cleveland for better opportunities. It was the Spring of 1960, where Mrs. Artis became a fixture on E. 97 th Street of the St. Clair Avenue neighborhood and raised her kids, and their kids.

Ora never remarried after the death of her husband Otho of 39 years, who predeceased her by 34 years. She is also preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Henry (sister-in-law Dolores), Elliott, and Clarence, sisters: Florence and Loretta.

Ora is survived by her two children: Andria Artis and Otho "Chip" Artis, Jr.; 6 grandchildren (Andria) Tiffany Artis-Wilson and her spouse Stephanie, Tamara Artis, Alex Artis-Howland and his spouse Julie, (Chip) Evan Artis, Brittanaire Lamar, Johnathan Lamar-Artis and his spouse Krysten; 12 great-grandchildren (Tiffany) Tre, Jadora, Jamal, Jeremiah, Justice, (Tamara) Jasmine, DJ, Ian, (Alex) Josephine, Eliza, (Brittanaire) Elijah, Emmanuel; 5 great-great grandchildren (Jadora) Jaden, (Jamal) Alaia, (Jasmine) Christian, Cameron, and (DJ) Gabriel. She is also survived by sisters Octavia Anderson & Marian (David) Anderson, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Although our hearts are heavy, we find comfort that she is resting peacefully and has been reunited with her husband, as they watch over us.
