Jodie Lee Washington, Jr was born September 22, 1931 to Jodie Lee Washington, Sr and Mattie Washington in Coatopa, Alabama. He was the eldest of three children. His parents and siblings, Edward and Lorene preceded him in death. Growing up, Jodie attended the Dug Hill Primative Baptist church with his family. He attended and graduated Sumter County High. Jodie married his high school sweetheart Corene Scott in 1951 and to this union 2 children Everett (who preceded him in death) and Rosalind were born. He was drafted into the United States Air Force July 1951 and served faithfully until July 1955 where he received an honorable discharge. Soon after being discharged from the Air Force, Jodie relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where he met and married Ora Cannon (who preceded him in death). To this union one daughter, Deborah was born. Jodie was self- employed for many years driving big rigs across country and later owning his own auto repair shop. He was part of the Cleveland Chapter of the Alabama Club, traveling to a different city each year with gathering with fellow Alabamans! On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, Jodie made his transition. He fought a good fight and he won! His soul is at peace. Jodie leaves to cherish his memory his children Dianne Scurto (Anthony), Rosalind Johnson, Deborah King (William), Lamonte Washington (Nicole) and Tiffany Clark. One sister-in-law, Clara Washington. Nine grandchildren, Martina Orange (Patrick), Lamar Foster (Dayma), Eric Johnson (Jennifer) Tracey Robinson (William), Everett Turner and Tiffany Clark. Seven great grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
