Jerome Cooper, 78 years old, from Columbus Ohio, passed away on July 22nd, 2025. He was Born September 6th, 1946, in Seatle Washington. He was a devoted husband to Denise Jordan Cooper and a loving father to all his children.

Jerome moved to Cleveland Ohio with his family when he was six years old, where he and his siblings attended East Cleveland Schools. He joined the Armed Services at an early age. He enjoyed traveling abroad and meeting interesting people while in the service. After he returned, he became a barber and owned a barber shop for several years. He later spent time working at Lester Industries as a furnace and machine operator until his first retirement.

He later moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he and his wife, Denise, resided for the last 15 years. While in Columbus, he worked at Giant Eagle until his second retirement.

Despite the many responsibilities of being an awesome husband and father, he always made time for his family, friends and his passions. Some of his hobbies include skills and interests that helped define who he was. He enjoyed painting, watching old war movies, fishing, camping, gardening, grilling, casinos and traveling. His love for fishing and camping was something he shared with others, leaving a mark on us all that will never fade. He was known for being a mentor to everyone, both friends and family. He was "The father everyone wished they had."

Although Pops may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness and generosity. He was a happy and fun person to share time with. Always positive and upbeat. Jerome left a lasting impact on everyone he knew. We were blessed to have known him and had him in our lives.

He is survived by Denise Jordan-Cooper (wife); Candace Cooper-Franklin (daughter), Brian Franklin (son in law), Shampella Jones (daughter), Tyree Jordan (son), Angel Jordan (daughter in law), Sky-Yves Stevens (daughter); Kellie O'Neal (granddaughter), Tatiana Perry (granddaughter), Antwan Peterson (grandson), Robert Perry (grandson), David Robinson (grandson), DayShawn Stanford (grandson), Simone Williams (granddaughter), Lyric Peterson (great granddaughter); Beverly Cooper-Eatman (sister), Tracy Cooper (sister), Alicia Jordan Washington (sister in law), Nathanial Washington (brother in law), Evette Moton-Quarles (sister in law), Tony Quarles (Brother in law), Deen Jordan (sister in law) as well as many friends, nieces, nephews and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by George Cooper Sr. (father), Estelle Cooper (mother), Charlotte Cooper (wife), Keith O'Neal (son), Tyrome Cooper (son), George Cooper Jr (brother) and Gary Cooper (brother).

We find comfort in knowing that Jerome's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
