Allegra Danielle Sewell known to many as Lay Lay or the GaGa was the second child born to Herman Henry Sewell IV and Cheryl Sewell (Salad) on August 18, 1988, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Allegra was educated at Mt. Pleasant Catholic School, St. John Lutheran Elementary School, and graduated with honors from Trinity High School in 2006. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Case Western Reserve University with a degree in psychology with a minor in art in 2010. She continued her education and earned a Bachelors and Master's in Zoology at Miami University of Ohio.
Allegra valued learning and knowledge. She loved working with animals at the Cleveland Animal Protective League and at the Toledo and Akron Zoo. She had many pets that she loved including her turtle Filburta.
Allegra was known for her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit by all who got to know her. Allegra's positive approach to life can make you laugh in any situation. She loved having fun and spending time with her many friends that she considered family. Allegra was not one to sit still she always wanted to plan and go on adventures with the people she cared about. She loved playing video games and board games and always wanted to play them with her family and friends.
Allegra Danielle Sewell was called at the young age of 36 years old on October 3, 2024. She leaves to cherish loving memories and to mourn her passing: her parents, Herman H. Sewell, IV and Cheryl Sewell (Salad); two sisters, Nigel Marie and Amoi Nicole, brother-in-law, D'Vaughn Dixon four nephews, Robert Talley, Aiden Talley, Michael Wiley Jr and Kameron Sewell along with her beloved cousins and many Aunts and Uncles. as well as a host of faithful family and friends and grandfather.
The family has requested that instead of flowers, donations should be submitted to Animal Protected League and the Cleveland Metropolitan Zoo (clevelandzoosociety.org). Please include Allegra D. Sewell's name in the memo section.
Her life touched many many people, and she is greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Humbly submitted, the family.
